Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting! Let’s rock the neurotic writing world! Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.
The awesome co-hosts for the December 4 posting of the IWSG are Ronel, Deniz, Pat Garcia, Olga Godim, and Cathrina Constantine!

December 4 question - Do you write cliffhangers at the end of your stories? Are they a turn-off to you as a writer and/or a reader?
***************
Hello, friends!
I am still perpetually behind on blog posts, and I hate that I missed IWSG in October and November, but I'm back!
I've been so very busy, and the reason I missed two months of IWSG posts is detailed in the blog I put up last week about how I got my literary agent.
Yup! That's right! I am now agented. I signed with Katie Monson at SBR Media on October 17th.

It was a whirlwind decision, pivoting from my self-publishing plans to give traditional publishing a try in the eleventh hour, but here we are. I did another round of edits after I signed and my steamy, suspenseful holiday romance The Tinsel Twist went on submission on October 30th.
In mid-October I was also a writing guest at Multiverse Con in Atlanta, Georgia. It was so cool to be on the official guest side of a con for the first time! I'll eventually get around to writing up a blog about my experience there. I think it's the next blog on my list to catch up on. I sat on a panel with Sherrilyn Kenyon which was super cool!
I also finished a long overdue book review of The Masks We Wear by B.D. Carpenter. They're a husband and wife team, and I interviewed them, so please check it out if you have the time.
I really can't believe it's already December. I had so many writing goals this year I didn't get accomplished, but at the same time I also accomplished a huge one by finding an agent. And admittedly, that took up the majority of my writing energy this year. Querying is almost a full-time job. Being a guest at a conference and a mentor to new romance writers was also a highlight of the year.
I've been able to beta read and ton of amazing books, three of which have been picked up by agents recently! And I'm just so excited for them and I can't wait to hype up the books when they're published so everyone else can experience them, too.
This month, I'm working hard to finish my sports romance WIP A Bid on Love so I can get it to my agent to read and have it on the back burner and ready to put on sub after The Tinsel Twist.
The IWSG Prompt - Cliffhangers
Hmmm. I typically don't write cliffhangers because I usually write standalone books, at least lately. I do have a high fantasy project that will absolutely end up being a trilogy, and a spy thriller I think will work best at least as a duology, if not a trilogy. But, I would try to wrap each book up with a satisfying ending while leaving the breadcrumb for the next book.
I wouldn't say cliffhangers turn me off, especially if the next book is out, but I am hesitant to read books that I know have cliffhangers if the next book isn't yet available. I prefer to pick up series that is already complete. I feel like I've been burned more by TV shows than books though. I hate it when shows leave you with a cliffhanger at the end of the season and then THE SHOW GETS CANCELED. Like what the heck is that? I'm still traumatized from the show Witchblade getting canceled when I was a teen. I was so into that show and then the third season wasn't picked up and it ended on a cliffhanger.
I have read some books, especially in the indie space, where the book that is released stops at the climax of the book as a "cliffhanger" and that's a bit irritating. I much prefer books that leave a lingering question or maybe an unresolved subplot that will become the main plot for the next book but tie up everything else in a neat bow.
I hope that makes sense!
Thanks for stopping by! Would love to hear your thoughts on the topic this month or on where you are in your writing journey and if you've accomplished your writing goes for this year.
